Artist by Nature
In 1980 I began working in computer graphics, long before the days of personal computers and Apple products and was a creative directive for several decades in video, animation, multi-media, internet, publications, and exhibit design.
In my spare time I painted for my own pleasure. Over the years, I would occasionally submit paintings to juried competitions, several times winning awards. Most of my paintings are referenced by my experiences, places I have visited, and subject or scenes that intrigue me. Inspiration often comes from the simple desire to learn or refine a technique, to capture a visual or lighting effect, or to put on canvas something that moved my emotions. This can be very personal for me, and whether or not those emotions come through can only be judged by the viewer.
In December 2016 my wife and I retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado where is landscapes, atmosphere, seasons, and abundant wildlife provide endless inspiration. It has been easy to become part of this tremendous art community. I have been enriched by membership and participation in multiple artist groups and activities including Oil Painters of America, Pikes Peak Plein Air Artists, Colorado Plein Art Artists, Susan K. Black Foundation Artists Workshop, Victor Celebrates the Arts, Florence Paint the Town, Cripple Creek Arts Alliance, Manitou Art Center, Manitou Springs Heritage Center, Cottonwood Fine Arts Center, Commonwheel Artists Co-Op, The Bridge Art Galleries, Boettcher Performing Arts Center, The Colorado Governor's Art Show and Sale and more. Each of these has led to many artistic opportunities, contacts, shows, and awards.
