My wife and I almost missed this gorgeous view because we were ready to turn around and head back to Crested Butte when the mountain peak came into view through a gap in the towering trees that lined the narrow roadway. We decided to continue on, and when we got to the lake we were overwhelmed by the magnificence of the view. The late afternoon sun glanced off of the mountains and trees, the lake half in and half out of the sunshine. This painting attempts to capture the magical feeling that we both felt when presented by this splendid view.
