"Raven's Dream Dessert" is a 9x12 inch acrylic painting on panel of a closeup of a raven with a cherry in his mouth. The raven is painted on a background of deep, matte black paint that reflects almost no light at all. This deep black allows the dark raven to not only stand out from the background, but to also highlight the subtle color variations and iridescence in the feathers. The raven is one that I photographed in Yellowstone National Park that had landed on the roof of my SUV looking for a handout. Though I did not offer him a snack, in this painting the raven has received his just desserts.
