Rembrandt Self-Portrait - Study for St. Paul the Apostle
Oil on Canvas 20 x 16
"Rembrandt Self-Portrait - Study for St. Paul the Apostle" is an oil on canvas. This painting is a copy of a portion of the famous Rembrandt painting.
My painting was created for the 2022 Annual Fakes and Forgeries art show hosted by Alvarez School of Art in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The show opens on April Fools Day. Along with this portrait I also made a fake "Certificate of Authenticity", purportedly written in Dutch by Rembrandt himself. The language on the certificate is filled with ridiculous claims, intentional historical errors, as well as idioms and phrases that would not have been in use in the Netherlands in the mid 1600's.
