"The Rut" is a 15 x 30 inch oil on canvas. This misty morning showcases the September "rut", or mating ritual amongst the elk herds in the Rocky Mountains. We can see two bull elks ready to square off for the battle that will result in one them earning the right to lead and mate with the remainder of the herd.
